The first concert of the season: Within the scope of "2008 INTERNATIONAL TROUBADOUR OLYMPICS ICELAND TOUR" the musicians Svavar Knutur (singer of Hraun) from Iceland, Sam Burke and Peter Uhlenbruch alias Owls of the swamp - both from Australia - gave a wonderful concert.

21 June 2008 – Djúpavík. Kraftur í kringum Ísland. (4 pictures)

Start and destination are the westmanislands - nine persons on the way around Iceland with two boats and one car. They are collecting money for young people with cancer. On their trip they stopped in Djúpavík for one night. I wish you all success! Here are more informations available: www.krafturikringumisland.com.

20 and 21 June 2008 – Djúpavík. Chess tournament in the old herring factory. (17 pictures)

The first chess tournament in Djúpavík - 9 games, 15 minutes - with around 50 participants from Iceland, Greenland, Denmark and Germany - some are Grand Masters (GM). A great event in the old herring factory. And next year there will be another tournament. You find more informations about "Chess in Árneshreppur" on this blog: www.hatid2008.blog.is

The day 17th June is the icelandic national holiday. This day is celebrated in whole Iceland. And in Djúpavík, too. Cowds of people going out on the street! But it is Sunnevas birthday today, too!
